What is OGG file? OGG file is OGG Vorbis Compressed Audio File, a free, open standard container format maintained by the Xiph.Org Foundation, using free, unpatented Ogg Vorbis compression. OGG file is similar to MP3 file, but it sounds better than an MP3 file of equal size. Supported by many audio players and some portable music players, OGG file format is is designed to provide for efficient streaming and manipulation of high quality digital multimedia. It is typically used to encode content found freely available on the Internet to improve the streaming quality of the content. When using the .OGG file format, a decent sampling rate is around 96kbits, a 96kbit ogg file is comparable to a 160kbit MP3 file. The compression is much better, allowing smaller file sizes and better quality files.
